Community Engagement
Community Engagement at the HAARC Center
Community Engaged Research (CER) is central to the HAARC (Healthy Aging and Alzheimer’s Research Center) mission. We are dedicated to building meaningful bidirectional partnerships with diverse communities to advance healthy aging and dementia research. Our community engagement team works alongside community members, caregivers, and local organizations to create inclusive, culturally responsive programs that promote awareness and facilitate participation in research. By integrating community perspectives into every stage of our work, we ensure that our research reflects and serves the unique needs and priorities of the populations we aim to support, fostering a collective journey toward healthy aging and Alzheimer’s prevention.
Partnerships
Mutually beneficial partnerships are central to our work, fostering a holistic, inclusive, and impactful approach to addressing the complex challenges of aging and dementia. By collaborating with community organizations, we build a research foundation that directly benefits those we serve. Our partnerships enable research participation that reflects local needs and experiences, especially in underrepresented communities, making our findings and interventions more relevant and valuable to those who need them most.
Through these collaborations, we help create dementia-friendly environments, offering resources and training to make neighborhoods more inclusive and supportive of those affected by dementia. Ultimately, these efforts aim to build healthier, more resilient communities where individuals can age with dignity, access support, and enjoy meaningful opportunities for enrichment.
