The University of Chicago’s Department of Neurology seeks tenured or tenure-track faculty members at any rank to join the Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center. The HAARC Center serves as a hub to coordinate research in aging, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementia (ADRD) and is dedicated to discovering neurobiologic, cognitive, genetic, lifestyle, psychosocial, and related factors that promote resilience, resistance, and health span. The Center achieves these goals through multidisciplinary research, community engagement, education, and the development of new evidence-based interventions.

Appointees will be expected to develop a productive and highly impactful research program that integrates with and contributes to the multidisciplinary research and educational goals of the HAARC Center and the department. Because the appointees’ research programs can overlap with one or more areas of strength within the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) including neurobiology, computational neuroscience, genetics, neuroimaging, and immunology, the appointees will likely collaborate closely with faculty in some of the following programs: the University of Chicago Medicine Center for Comprehensive Care and Research on Memory Disorders, the Neuroscience Institute, the Institute for Population and Precision Health, the Aging and Research Program within the Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, the Center for Neurocognitive Outcomes Improvement Research, and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience. The University of Chicago’s Department of Neurology in the Biological Sciences Division (BSD), in collaboration with the Grossman Institute for Neuroscience, Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior, is searching for a tenured professor, either a physician scientist or a basic scientist, to hold its Goldberg Professorship. The appointee shall be someone who, in the opinion of the Dean of the Biological Sciences Division and the Chairman of the Department of Neurology, has made and will continue to make significant contributions toward the development of treatments and potential cures for multiple sclerosis (MS) and/or other neuroimmunological disorders.

The appointee will also help to lead the creation of the University of Chicago Program in Neuroinflammation, capitalizing on the intersection of several existing programs in the BSD and throughout the University. These include the Center for Motor Neuron Disease, the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, and the Committee on Immunology, to name a few. We expect the appointee to facilitate collaborations within the Departments of Neurology, and Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and with faculty throughout the Neuroscience Institute. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center within the Biological Sciences Division. This role will involve indirect care through research protocols, research clinical assessments, and participation in clinical research studies aimed at improving diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurodegenerative diseases. The APP will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including neurologists, neuropsychologists, and research coordinators, to ensure high-quality care and adherence to study protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical research assessments, including cognitive and neurological evaluations, for research participants.

• Perform medical history reviews, physical examinations, and administer diagnostic and cognitive assessments for research participants.

• Oversee and manage participants in clinical research studies, including screening, enrollment, and follow-up visits.

• Collaborate with principal investigators to ensure adherence to clinical research protocols and regulatory compliance.

• Educates participants and care partners about study procedures to be performed, visit schedule, what to report between and during visits, and the risks and benefits of the procedures.

The Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center at the University of Chicago is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator 2 to support its innovative clinical research initiatives. This position will play a key role in coordinating research activities, including participant recruitment and scheduling, data collection and management, regulatory compliance, and study documentation. While this role may involve supporting the Communication Bridge Research Program, a telehealth intervention for individuals with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) and their partners, the coordinator will also contribute to other research projects within the HAARC Center as needed. We are looking for a detail-oriented, proactive individual with experience in clinical research, health-related interventions, or a related field. Responsibilities

• Manage the recruitment and scheduling of research subjects, including assisting in the development or modification of study protocols, data collection tools, and databases, while providing essential administrative support. • Coordinate all aspects of the study from initiation to conclusion, which encompasses the recruitment and screening of study subjects, obtaining informed consent, collecting research data, and ensuring strict adherence to protocol guidelines.
